Pollinator Plug Planting

Join us for a meaningful afternoon at Starr’s Cave as we grow our local ecosystem and honor a special legacy. We are gathering to install a new pollinator demonstration plot in loving memory of Kevin Russel.
This project, funded through memorial donations, will transform the area directly in front of the Nature Center into a vibrant sanctuary for Iowa’s bees, butterflies, and birds. It’s more than just a garden—it’s a living tribute that will serve as an educational showcase for every visitor to the park.
We are thrilled to be working alongside Samuel from Prairie Roots Landscaping! He will be on-site to lead the planting and share their professional expertise on:
Native "Plugs": Learn why starting with plugs is the best way to ensure successful native growth.
Maintenance 101: Get the dirt on how to keep a pollinator plot thriving year-round.
Home Tips: Professional advice on how to start your own pollinator project in your own yard.
